The Department of Humanities at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) wants to share a residency opportunity for early-career (up to 5 years of experience) science journalists, offered as part of the FRONTIERS program funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
FRONTIERS supports independent, high-quality science journalism through 3- to 5-month immersive stays at European research institutions. The goal is to strengthen public trust in science, counter misinformation, and improve social resilience against disinformation.
As a host institution, we offer a residency focused on colonial history, modernity, and decolonial studies. Our department is home to two ERC-funded research teams (MaGMa and IslandLives) that explore the colonial past of the Caribbean and the Pacific from feminist and decolonial perspectives, examining how island societies were shaped by European imperialism and the rise of Western modernity.
Hosting Includes:
- Full access to department facilities and resources
- Designated workspace, Wi-Fi, library access, and use of shared spaces
- Participation in departmental activities and research events
- Integration into the MaGMa and IslandLives teams’ day-to-day work
- Possibility of participating in all relevant events open to staff, including seminars, training sessions, and networking activities.
