Dear colleagues,

The conference was initially planned for the beginning of July together with the Euro Science Open Forum ESOF2020 and was postponed due to the uncertainties of pandemic. The conference programme was, hence, redesigned in the new context and includes topics of relevance, like communicating uncertainties and evidence-based policy making in times of pandemic.

Key topics are: Filters for Truth: Will AI replace reporters and fact-checkers?; Cybersecurity: science journalist’s guide; Communicating uncertainties: before and after covid-19; Evidence-based policy making in science and medicine; The impact of science cultures on science journalism and the public discourse.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.

The registration form can be accessed through the website of the conference at http://www.ecsj2020.eu/registration, where the provisional program is available.

For those who will be able to travel to Trieste, a meeting point in person will be organised thanks to the hospitality of the Area Science Park. The in-person event will be organised in full compliance with the restrictions and the safety recommendations imposed by Covid-19.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Euroscience Open Forum ESOF2020 Trieste and supported by the European Federation for Science Journalism (EFSJ), EurekAlert!, the Knight Science Journalism Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the European Union’s Earth Observation Programme Copernicus/ECMWF, European Molecular Biology Lab (EMBL) and Area Science Park.

Don’t forget to fill the form at http://www.ecsj2020.eu/registration.

We hope to have you among our participants!
